PAUL&SHARK
On March 4, 1957, Maglificio Daco, the mill founded in 1921, opened its doors under new owner Gian Ludovico Dini, who would change the company name to Dama SpA nine years later. Every aspect of production was done in-house, from the production of yarns to the fabrics and the production of all packaging. The clothes were shipped worldwide thanks to prestigious partnerships with Christian Dior and Balenciaga. In the early 1970s, Gian Ludovico’s eldest son, Paolo Dini, caught a sailing machine at the age of 18 during a trip to a small sailor’s workshop in Maine: the inscription read “Paul & Shark”. It was fate, and the Paul & Shark brand was born. The yachting collection dates back to the mid-1970s, when Paul & Shark entered the sports fashion sector, inspired by the sea, the world of sailing and the spirit of adventure. In 1978, the C0P918 sweater was born: a sailing sweater that would become an icon of the Paul & Shark style, immediately recognizable from its packaging, a metal used as a multi-purpose container on boats. The water-repellent sweater was an immediate success and signaled the start of a completely new water-repellent knitwear collection. Over the years, the company has developed into a comprehensive smart casual and luxury sportswear brand renowned for the quality of its garments, appreciated by fans of Italian fashion and high-performance technical materials, many of which are patented by Paul & Shark. The Paul & Shark collections (men, women, children and accessories) are available in 73 different countries, 458 cities worldwide, from Milan’s Via Montenapoleone to Rue du Faubourg St. Honore’ in Paris, New York, Dubai and Moscow. Today, the company is run by CEO and President Andrea Dini, the third generation of the founding family.
